Cougars wrap up 2024 Volleyball ID Camp

[July 24, 2024 – Sault Ste. Marie, ON] – Sault College Cougars varsity volleyball got underway with their first scheduled activities last week. Hosted by general manager Andrew Nicholson & head coach Becky Grisdale, the Cougars used their I.D. Camp to scout prospective athletes for the 2025 season.

Athletes participated in an immersive weeklong camp with volleyball skill development, campus tours, nutrition, strength training, and a day of fun in the sun at the Waterfront Adventure Centre! Throughout the week, prospective athletes were able to come together like a seasoned team showing the promise of Cougars volleyball in 2025.

"What a fantastic way to re-launch Women's Varsity Volleyball at Sault College! Eighteen players from across the province accepted our invitation to attend the ID Camp." added team General Manager & Assistant Coach Andrew Nicholson, "Their effort was outstanding throughout but the most impressive outcome, was that they have already developed a true team-like bond. The future looks extremely bright for our program."

The players showed visible growth from Monday through Friday as future Cougars were immersed in a varsity schedule and standard of practice to take their game to the next level. With players from across Ontario in attendance, the players created meaningful relationships with each other that will last into the future.

The Sault College Cougars will begin their return to OCAA action in the fall of 2025. The team will actively promote and recruit for the new program in anticipation of its debut.
