
Cougars Men's Curling Cap Season with Fourth Place Finish at CCAA National Championships
In Semifinal action, the Sault College Cougars and Mohawk Mountaineers faced off in an all-OCAA matchup. The Mountaineers struck first with 2 points in the first end, before blowing it wide open when they stole 5 in the second end, taking a commanding 7-0 lead early. The two teams would exchange singles over the next two ends to bring the score to 8-1. Sault College would take a single with the hammer in the fifth end, and steal another in the sixth, this was as close as they would get, ultimately falling 9-3 to Mohawk College. The Cougars will now play Red Deer Polytechnic for the bronze medal at the CCAA Curling Championships.
The highly anticipated bronze medal match between the Sault College Cougars and the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings looked to build on a thrilling 4-3 round robin game, which Sault College emerged victorious. The Kings would strike first, earning a single point in the first end, and stealing another in the second to jump out to an early 2-0 lead. Sault College would get it right back with a pair in the third end. The teams would blank the fourth end, setting up a tie game heading into the final stretch. Red Deer would capitalize on a few Cougars mistakes and take 5 in the fifth end, cruising to an 8-2 victory over Sault College.
The Cougars end their 2024-25 season finishing fourth at the Men’s CCAA Curling National Championships. In addition to this strong showing, the men’s curling team also captured bronze at the OCAA Provincial Championships. Sault Cougars Mixed Curling finished Gold-Silver on their side of the draw at the OCAA Championships.
