Cougars Make A Statement in Football Debut
Sault College Football kicked off its inaugural season with authority on Friday night, posting a dominant 64–7 victory over the GTA Grizzlies on the road to open the 2025 season.
The matchup marked the official debut of the newly launched Cougars football program and it didn't disappoint.
The Cougars came out aggressive on both sides of the ball, putting together a complete team performance from start to finish. The offence marched down the field with confidence on multiple scoring drives, while the defence set the tone early and kept the Grizzlies off the scoreboard until late in the game.
"It was a nice way to start our season and is a reflection of the hard work the players and coaches have put in during our recent training camp," said head coach Paul Orazietti. "It wasn't a perfect game by any measure, and we've still got lots to clean up—next week's competition against the Hamilton Hurricanes will be significantly tougher."
The team's physicality, discipline, and depth were all on display in a performance that signals the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Sault College Athletics.
The Cougars are back on the road for Week 2, taking on the Hamilton Hurricanes on Saturday, August 9 at Tim Hortons Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM. Fans can watch the livestream for a fee at www.cjfltv.com.
